He ran an independent presidential campaign in 1992 and a third party campaign in 1996, establishing the Reform Party in the latter election. Both campaigns were among the strongest presidential showings by a third party or independent candidate in U.S. history.

Kay Granger

Norvell Kay Granger is an American Republican politician from the U.S. state of Texas, representing its 12th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. A former teacher and businesswoman, she is the first Republican woman to represent Texas in the U.S. House. After serving on the zoning commission of Fort Worth, Texas, in 1991 she was elected as the city's first woman mayor, serving two terms to 1995. In 2016, Granger made headlines by joining a long list of Republicans who opposed the GOP nominee for President, Donald Trump.

Terdema L. Ussery II is a former president and CEO of the National Basketball Association’s Dallas Mavericks. During that time, he also served as president of the Dallas Mavericks Foundation as well as an alternate governor for the Mavericks on the NBA Board of Governors. Ussery left the Mavericks in 2015 to become the president of global sports categories at Under Armour, but resigned after three months. He is a key figure in a February 2018 Sports Illustrated exposé on alleged sexual harassment within the Dallas Mavericks organization.

Voters were asked to pick 6 electors to be pledged for a candidate in the Electoral College. The two main tickets of the election were the Republican one, consisting of businessman Donald Trump and Indiana Governor Mike Pence, and the Democratic one, consisting of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Virginia Senator Tim Kaine.
